Waide Somme

Waide Somme is the animated image department of the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design in Amiens (ésad), a public institution founded in 2003. Specializing in 2D/3D animation, video games, and virtual reality, it welcomes students from across France and abroad. The curriculum focuses on digital image creation and animation, combining artistic development with hands-on technical training — from industry-standard software to production methodology. The school awards national degrees from the French Ministry of Culture: the DNA (Bachelor level) and the DNSEP (Master level). As a public school, tuition fees remain very affordable compared to the many private institutions in the field. Accredited in 2025 by RECA (the French Animation Film School Network), Waide Somme has built a strong reputation in the world of French animation.
